Unpublished Pastor Letter

Role: Director of Communications, St. Thomas More Catholic Church

The Need

The finance staff and committee discerned the need to develop an annual report to share the parish's financial status. I was asked to write a letter for the pastor to introduce and set the tone for this new communication piece. Unfortunately, due to time constraints and a change in leadership, this project did not make it to production.

The Solution

Dear parishioners,

As we continue to rejoice at the good news of our Lord’s resurrection, my heart is filled with overwhelming gratitude for each one of you. Through your participation in the many ministries within our parish, your time has been a sincere offering of service to God and your neighbor. Through the exercising and nurturing of your God-given talents, you have been outward signs of the grace at work in and through you. Through the generous offering of your treasures, you have been daring witnesses of a life lived without fear of sacrifice. I, along with the rest of the clergy and staff, thank you for your spiritual and material support in making God’s dream – the Kingdom – a reality in north Austin, Cedar Park and beyond.

While the Easter season is a reminder of the new life we have been promised in Jesus, the Lenten season that precedes it is a reminder of the cross present in our lives. The trials and struggles we have experienced since the spring of 2020 – a pandemic and devastating winter storm to name two - have certainly made the crosses we carry seem far too heavy to bear. Thankfully, the Sacraments we have been privileged to celebrate have been constant and outward reminders of the grace God so generously pours into our lives so that we can continue our pilgrimage to Heaven with our cross.

In the pages that follow you will find a summary of how we strove to honor your generous stewardship of the gifts God has given to you. We undertook infrastructure projects that furthered our commitment to increasing the safety of all while visiting our campus. We completed improvement projects to make the physical resources of St. Thomas More Parish your legacy for many generations to come. We compiled this report not only to account for our stewardship but to say thank you. Thank you for trusting us. Thank you for trusting God.

Yours in Christ,

-Fr. Michael

Pastor
